Tuffley battle past Westfields to make it three wins in a row

Tuffley Rovers claimed their third win in a row, edging past Westfields 1-0 in a battling performance on a tough afternoon.
Jamie Creed’s 11th minute was the only chance of any quality in an opening 45 minutes that saw both sides cancel each other out in midfield.
The second half continued with the same trend, however Rovers keeper Anton Robinson was forced into the only real save of the second 45 minutes.
Westfields are still yet to earn a point in 2026 after the result, and they struggled to really create too many chances to equalise for the most part.
Neil Mustoe’s side are eight points outside the play-off places with only eight league games remaining, they play three of the sides in the top five in their next three matches – so Rovers know that if they can keep this winning run going, they will at least be ending the season in strong style.
Next up for Tuffley is a trip to Worcester Raiders next weekend, before they head to Roman Glass St George and hosting Droitwich Spa.
For Westfields, they are ten points ahead of the relegation zone with ten games left, but they will need to stop the rot, especially when they know they play the current bottom two, Cribbs and Hallen, next month.

Saturday’s game saw Tuffley break the deadlock with the first real chance of the afternoon as Kieran Alder’s cut back and blocked shot fell to Jamie Creed, who slotted past Ryan Smallwood.
Both midfields were on top as the first half wore on, with Tuffley going close to a second before the break – as Alder had another shot blocked, before the recycled ball ended up with Creed having a shot cleared off the line.
Right on half time, Westfields wasted a golden opportunity as Justice Campbell skied an effort from 18 yards after a free kick was nodded down to him.
Zac Powell’s second half free kick was just about scrambled out for a corner, before Campbell forced loanee keeper Anton Robinson into his only real save of the contest, after getting into space on the edge of the box.
Former Rovers man Harrison Iddles fired well over for the visitors, before the game fell into a lull and it felt like the match was drifting towards full time without too much happening in either box.
During the game the visitors were left frustrated with the match officials. Harrison Iddles was one of three bookings for Westfields, whilst Jamie Creed and Harley Mustoe avoided cards for challenges that were stopping a promising attack.
Their frustration boiled over with just under 10 minutes to go when Rhys Bennett was given a sin bin for dissent after throwing the ball into the ground as he disputed a decision.
Westfields had gripes with the lack of cards for the Tuffley duo, but they could have no complaints with the yellows they received and in particular, a silly sin bin.
In the end Tuffley saw the game out well, with substitute Karnell Chambers firing wide with the best chance in the closing stages. The hosts were good value for three points based on the 90 minutes.
