Cheltenham Youth Floodlit League expands to 27 teams for 2026/27 season

The Cheltenham Youth Floodlit League has expanded to 27 teams for the 2026/27 season, subject to appeal.

The league’s Premier Division is set to run with 12 teams, with Quedgeley Wanderers, Cheltenham Saracens and Worcester City promoted in place of Lydney Town, Ledbury Town and Dursley Town – who are relegated into Division One.

A whole host of new sides have joined the league, with Abbeymead Rovers, Belmont Wanderers, Bromsgrove Sporting Colts, Newent Town, Nunnery Wood U17s Raptors, Rodborough Youth, Toros FC and Worcester United all joining the league in Division One.

The 2026/27 CYFL season is set to start the week commencing Monday 7 September, due to be released in the coming weeks now the league know the FA Youth Cup early draws.

All of Gloucester City, Bishops Cleeve, Cinderford Town, Slimbridge, Cirencester Town, Fairford Town and Hereford Pegasus are in FA Youth Cup action from the end of August.

Severn Sport are back sponsoring the league cup, with the First Round set to see five sides receive a bye before eleven ties to decide the last 16.
