The Stroud & District League have confirmed their 2026/27 constitution following their AGM this week.

Once again the league will run with eight divisions, with divisions 3-5 split into North and South divisions and will consist of 97 teams throughout the league.

Divisions One and Two see a number of sides promoted alongside league play-off winners and that is to factor in five new clubs and nine new sides from existing clubs to join at Division Five alongside the promotion of Minchinhampton and Tuffley Rovers Reserves alongside Old Richians – who won the Stroud Division One title last season.

Promoted into Division One are Cam Bulldogs and Brockworth Albion Reserves as expected after last season, with Sherston Town, Longlevens 3rds and Sharpness Reserves also promoted to take the division up to 14 teams.

Division Two sees Rising Stars, Longlevens 5ths and play-off winners Rodborough Old Boys promoted, with Mavericks, Quedgeley Wanderers Reserves, Frampton United 3rds and Barnwood United Reserves also promoted alongside them.

Division Three sees Siddington Athletic and Randwick Relegated into the North, whilst Tuffley Rovers 3rds are relegated into the South Division.

Promoted into the North are Tuffley Rovers 4ths, Abbeymead Rovers Reserves, Painswick Reserves, Brockworth Albion 3rds and Longford – whilst Nailsworth Town, Sherston Town Reserves, Berkeley Town and Cam Bulldogs Reserves join the South Division – with both divisions holding 11 sides.

Chalford 3rds, Hardwicke 3rds and Kings Stanley Reserves have relegated into Division Four, with 11 sides promoted to help accommodate the new sides in Division Five.

Twigworth Green are joined by Barnwood United 3rds, Rising Stars Reserves, Upton St Leonards Reserves, Mavericks Reserves and Hunts Grove in Division Four North – whilst Chalford 4ths and Minety Reserves are joined by Cam Bulldogs 3rds, Alkerton Rangers and Uley Reserves in Division Four South.

The Stroud League have confirmed the loss of Minchinhampton Rangers, Boss FC and Cotswold Rangers but welcome Andoversford, Widden, Cirencester Rangers, Great Oldbury and Slimbridge Cygnets into Division Five for the new season.

Old Richians Reserves, Painswick 3rds and Randwick Reserves have been relegated into Division Five, whilst there are new sides for existing clubs in the form of AFC Renegades Reserves, Barnwood United 4ths, Coney Hill Reserves, Quedgeley Wanderers 3rds, Twigworth Green Reserves and Hunts Grove Reserves in the North – plus Frampton United 4ths, Minchinhampton 3rds and Rodborough Old Boys Reserves in the South.

The Stroud League continues to grow and expand alongside it’s member clubs and whilst it is always sad to see clubs withdraw from leagues ahead of the new season, for the Stroud League to be welcoming five new clubs and nine new sides within established clubs, it shows that grassroots football continues to thrive at it’s lowest levels.

Something very eye-catching is that three of last season’s new clubs in Coney Hill, Twigworth Green and Hunts Grove are already running second teams within 12 months of being entered into the league – something that shouldn’t be taken for granted.
