Hellenic Division One Fixtures released for the 2026/27 season – Lydney & Newent at home on opening day
The fixtures for the 2026/27 Hellenic League Division One season were released on Friday lunchtime, with both Lydney Town and Newent Town at home and Brimscombe, Shortwood United, Stonehouse Town and Sharpness all away from home.
Hellenic One looks set to be a hugely competitive league once again, with Gloucestershire’s interests heighten by Lydney dropping down from the Hellenic Premier and Sharpness being promoted after winning the Gloucestershire County League.
With seven local sides in the division there will be an array of local derbies throughout the season, with Sharpness’ first home game in the league against Shortwood United on Tuesday 4 August – with Cheltenham Saracens hosting Newent Town the following weekend.
The opening weekend sees Brimscombe & Thrupp head to Alcester Town, Sharpness head to Carterton, Stonehouse on the road to Clanfield, Cheltenham Saracens travelling to Redditch Borough and Shortwood United making the trip to Swindon Supermarine Reserves.
Lydney Town welcome Bewdley Town, whilst Newent are also at home, with Studley the visitors.
August Bank Holiday Monday sees Brimscombe host Shortwood, Newent host Lydney and Stonehouse Town hosting Sharpness – whilst Cheltenham Saracens are travelling to Chipping Sodbury Town.
The Boxing Day games look very tasty from a Gloucestershire perspective, with Cheltenham Saracens vs Lydney Town, Stonehouse Town vs Brimscombe & Thrupp and Sharpness vs Newent Town all booked in, whilst Shortwood United head to Chipping Sodbury Town.
