The Severn Sport Tipster League is back!

For the eighth year in a row, 10 competitors will go head-to-head in a bid to be crowned Severn Sport’s King Tipster(s) for the next 12 months.

Tuesday brought a great first day, giving our competitors plenty of chances to rack up some early points and then there was drama on the Wednesday morning.

Going into the day these were the selected races:

The big drama coming with the news that the Cross Country Chase had been cancelled, so the third race in the Tipster League was the Grand Annual at 16:50.

Brown Advisory Novices Chase

  1. Fact To File (8/13 Fav)
  2. Monty’s Star (13/2)
  3. Giovinco (40/1)

Pulled up: Stay Away Fay

Drama at the turn in for home as Stay Away Fay pulled up and cost a number of our tipsters!

All of Sweet Prince, Money Man Ash, Mr Slimbridge AFC and Top Trotters had the winner and also the pulled up horse, so only scored 1 point.

SPM27 scored 3 points, as did Bacon who had Stay Away Fay, but also had Monty’s Star as his Extra Place, meaning his place and forecast points were nullified.

PLFC and Can’t Bowl. Bat at No.8 had the forecast, so scored 5 points.

The Fox went against the favourite and had the pulled up horse, so scored -2 points.

Coral Cup

  1. Langer Dan (13/2)
  2. Ballyadam (13/2)
  3. Shanbally Kid (12/1)
  4. Lucky Place (25/1)

Non-runner: Maxxum

Maxxum being a non-runner meant The Fox had a replacement, but he, like many, didn’t score a point in this.

Top Trotters and No luck catching them swans then picked up 1 point each for a place, but PLFC had the winner and claimed 3 poitnts.

Mr Slimbridge AFC had the forecast this time around and scored 5 points.

Grand Annual

  1. Unexpected Party (12/1)
  2. Libberty Hunter (6/1)
  3. Path D’oroux (10/1)
  4. Sa Fueur (4/1 Fav)

Pulled up: Hardy Du Seuil

No luck catching them swans then had rotten luck, with the only pulled up runner in the race being theirs. -2 points.

Bacon, Can’t Bat. Bowl at No.8, SPM27 and The Fox all picked up 1 point for a place, but the big winner was Sweet Prince, who had the winner and secured 3 points.

The only additional points on the day were two antepost tips – with differing fortunes.

Bacon scored -2 points after El Fabiolo pulled up in the Queen Mother Champion Chase, whilst Ballyburn romping home in the Gallaghers Novice Hurdle saw Can’t Bowl. Bat at No.8 complete a great day and win 6 points.

Here is how the table looks after day two:

Another great day for Mr Slimbridge AFC sees him stretch his lead at the top of the table, with a seven point margin between him and second place Can’t Bowl. Bat at No.8 – who had a fantastic day.

PLFC, Top Trotters and SPM27 are also still in the running, whilst the likes of Bacon, No luck catching them swans then and The Fox are being cut adrift at the bottom of the table.
