Tuesday 26 December – Longlevens 1-3 Tuffley Rovers
Saturday 30 December – Slimbridge 2-3 Longlevens

Check out this month’s XI below:

Goalkeeper – Ellis Parker (Slimbridge) – Parker has had a solid month, even though a couple of results haven’t gone Slimbridge’s way, he has been a reliable keeper all season. He played his part in the win at Tuffley, was unlucky in the defeat vs Longlevens and stood out in the draw against Pershore.

Right Back – Myron Turner (Slimbridge) – Myron is one of my favourite people and I have been delighted to see him playing well for Slimbridge, albeit at a converted right back role. Turner narrowly beats out Longlevens’ Jack Beardsell.

Centre Back – Harry Leeson (Gloucester City) – The Bristol City loanee had a fantastic December and played his part in a number of positive performances during the month. City fans have taken to him and Leeson has been a great acquisition so far.

Centre Back – Jack Bartman (Brimscombe & Thrupp) – Bartman scored to top off a fantastic performance against Worcester Raiders and was his typically impressive self throughout.

Left Back – Jamie Reckord (Gloucester City) – Reckord has been a frustrating player at times this season for Gloucester City, but December was a good month for him. He is an experienced head in the changing room and you can see the influence he has on the younger players.

Right Midfield – Harry Emmett (Gloucester City) – The first on the shortlist for Player of the Month after a number of stand-out performances in December. Many doubted him when he signed for the National League North side, but he is playing without fear and with confidence.

Centre Midfield – Luke Finch (Longlevens) – Longlevens have had a tough month, but Luke Finch has had a very good one. He has been his tough-tackling, hard-hitting self, but he has also understood the role he has for the team and that is something that will always be valued.

Centre Midfield – Ben Hands (Slimbridge) – Hands is the second player on the shortlist for Player of the Month after a couple of great showings. He was very good in the win at Tuffley and had to do a job at centre half for his side too. Then he scored against Longlevens and despite defeat, was one of the stand-out players on the day.

Left Midfield – Kacie Anderson (Gloucester City Women) – Am I shoe-horning Anderson in at left midfield to fit her in? Absolutely. But that is because she has been that good of late, I couldn’t leave her out! When she is playing with confidence, she is one of the best players around.

Striker – Jess Dobbins (SGS Olveston United Women) – Dobbins rocked up to the game at Gloucester City as the Gloucester girl against her hometown and bagged a hattrick to see her side end the unbeaten start that City had made. Poetic storytelling at it’s finest.

Striker – Karnell Chambers (Tuffley Rovers) – The third and final player on the shortlist for Player of the Month after having a fantastic month. Goals, assists and helping his side produce some fantastic form during December. He is still full of quality.

Here is the XI in full:

As always, we have a substitute bench full of players who narrowly missed out on the XI. The bench is:

Craig Martin (Longlevens)
Jordan Alderman (Longlevens)
Harry Pinchard (Gloucester City)
Harlie Price (Brimscombe & Thrupp)
Connor Walters (Tuffley Rovers)
Renato Prifti (Hartpury University)
Clinton Cole (Hartpury University)

This month’s team will be managed by Tuffley Rovers’ Neil Mustoe after Tuffley won three massive games over Christmas and claimed a crucial point against a Thornbury side in and around them in the league.
