GNSL Reg Davis Cup Second Round set following goal crazy openers
The Second Round of the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League’s Reg Davis Cup is set for next Wednesday night – following an incredible First Round this midweek.
58 goals were scored across the 13 ties played on Wednesday evening, with two walkovers following league withdrawals and a postponed tie between English Bicknor and Fintan – with the next steps awaiting confirmation from the league.
Bredon booked their place in the Second Round with an 8-0 thumping against Painswick, whilst Old Richians scored seven in their 10 goal thriller at home to Viney St Swithins.
Richians will head to Cheltenham Civil Service, who won 3-0 at Lydbrook Athletic, whilst Bredon will host holders Dursley Town after Ben Deakin’s side clinched a 2-0 win at home to Minchinhampton.
Gala Wilton, Tuffley Rovers Reserves and Wickwar Wanderers all scored five in wins over Kings Stanley, Bream Amateurs and Charfield respectively.
Gala host Winchcombe Town, who won on penalties away at Hardwicke, whilst Tuffley Rovers Reserves entertain Barnwood United at Glevum Park after Barnwood’s bye following Longlevens Reserves’ promotion into the County League.
Wickwar Wanderers will be at home again, with Smiths Barometrics making the trip after their walkover against withdrawn Tredworth Tigers.
Stonehouse Town Reserves and Whaddon United both earned 4-1 wins in their respective First Round ties against Mushet & Coalway Utd and Brockworth Albion and they will now face Tewkesbury Town Reserves and Falcons respectively.
English Bicknor vs Fintan was postponed, reportedly due to Fintan not being able to raise a side, with the winners set to face Harrow Hill after Hill beat Blakeney on penalties following a 2-2 draw.
The Second Round ties are set to take place on Wednesday 12 August, subject to change.
