Cirencester Town’s Harry Burns, Gloucester City’s Harry Emmett and Slimbridge’s Jack Smith have been nominated for Breakthrough Player of the Season in the Severn Sport End of Season Awards.

Every year Severn Sport looks to recognise all of those players, managers, clubs and individuals who make grassroots football in Gloucestershire special!

Yesterday we announced that Hellenic League Division One Champions, Hartpury University, had been represented with six nominations and now we have an exciting trio!

Smith has impressed everyone during a great season for his development in football – with Slimbridge just missing out on the play-offs, as did Cirencester Town, who saw Burns make an impact after arriving at the Corinium Stadium.

Emmett made the leap up to National League North side Gloucester City and despite the Tigers being relegated, he stood out as one of their better players – so much so he has also been nominated for Signing of the Season.

Speaking about the latest nominees to come completely from the public nominations, Butler had this to say:

Three fantastic players here.

Burns impressed me during pre-season, in particular the Severn Sport Shield and I am not surprised that nearly 10 months later we are sat here talking about how good of a season he has had at Cirencester.

Jack is very highly thought of and rated at Slimbridge and it is easy to see why. A quality young player with a hugely bright future in local football.

I love Harry Emmett and I am not ashamed to say it. I was delighted to see him make the step up to City and delighted that he turned doubters into supporters by just being him.

Gloucester had a horrendous season, but Harry was the brightest spark in a very dark, dark campaign.”

Check back tomorrow morning when we will be announcing the next batch of nominees in this year’s End of Season Awards!
