The allocations for steps 2-6 for the 2026/27 football season have been announced, with a couple of points of interest for our sides.

In the Southern League, Gloucester City remain in the Southern League Premier South alongside Evesham United and they will be joined by Division One South Champions Frome Town and play-off winners Malvern Town.

As expected, Batch City and Chippenham Town are relegated into the division and are joined by Chichester City who make the lateral move across and promoted side, Hanworth Villa.

In Southern League Division One South, Bishops Cleeve and Hartpury are joined by Hellenic League Champions Slimbridge, play-off winners Worcester Raiders and Willand Rovers, who have received a reprieve following Mousehole’s withdrawal.

In the Hellenic Premier, Cribbs have received a reprieve following movement above, whilst Stourport Swifts move laterally into the division and promoted duo Devizes Town and Malmesbury Victoria complete the line up.

All of Cinderford Town, Cirencester Town, Fairford Town, Longlevens and Tuffley Rovers continue to represent the area in the league.

There is more movement in Hellenic One, with Bromyard Town, Sharpness and Swindon Supermarine Reserves promoted into the division, with Studley and Lydney Town being relegated into step 6.

Clanfield were always likely to receive a reprieve, which has now been confirmed.

Gloucestershire will have Brimscombe & Thrupp, Cheltenham Saracens, Lydney Town, Newent Town, Shortwood United and Stonehouse Town representing the area in the division.

The Hellenic League campaign will be set to kick off the week commencing Monday 27 July, with the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup expected to take place on Saturday 1 August.

Typically, the Premier Division will have their first round of matches in that midweek, with Division One starting on the Saturday whilst the Premier sides are in FA Cup action.

The Southern League season will be expected to kick off on either Saturday 8 or 15 of August, subject to change.
