Speaking about the latest nominees to come completely from the public nominations, Butler had this to say:
“Jay Griffiths has had a very good couple of seasons. After scoring 45 goals for Stratton United in Stroud 4 last season, he has joined a newly-promoted Bibury side and scored 19 in 31 – which a lot of strikers would die for!
He is up there in the goalscoring ranks with established strikers at GNSL and higher like Jamie Martin, Andy Maryon and Matty Cairns – so the return is fantastic!
As for Rising Stars, what a community – not just a team! They have been on the rise since registering a Saturday side in the Stroud League.
Winning a County Cup, Stroud League Cup and promotion once again is a great return and they should all rightly be very proud of the season the club has had!
The nomination for Ubaid instantly made him a nominee, someone who is so determined and committed to improving representation in football and performs on the pitch.
Ubaid is a key member of the Rising Stars family and fully deserves the recognition of being shortlisted!”
Check back tomorrow morning when we will be announcing the next batch of nominees in this year’s End of Season Awards!
