Tredworth Tigers withdraw from Gloucestershire Northern Senior League ahead of 2026/27 season

Tredworth Tigers have withdrawn from the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League ahead of the 2026/27 season, the league have confirmed.
In a post on the league’s website it reads,
Tredworth Tigers tended their resignation from the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League, with immediate effect, on 7th July 2026.
The club cited the loss of a significant number of players and the difficulties that were being experienced in recruitment as the reasons for their resignation.
Tredworth Tigers fixtures will now be expunged and Division One will have 15 sides for the forthcoming season
Tredworth struggled for large parts of last season, but after secured three wins in their final seven league matches, they finished 8th in the Division One table.
As the information on the league’s website suggests, Tredworth have struggled with player commitment in the close season and in an email to the GNSL the club have advised they would not be able to field a competitive squad for the league and had made the difficult decision.
Tredworth were promoted into the GNSL by winning the 2021/22 Stroud League Division One title, before securing back-to-back promotions after finishing runners up to Tewkesbury Town in Division Two in the 2022/23 season.
The unfortunate news follows Bibury having to take similar action at the end of last season, with sides like Staunton & Corse, FC Lakeside and Rodborough Old Boys withdrawing in recent seasons for similar reasons.

Division One will now run with 15 sides after Longlevens Reserves’ promotion to the County League has also been confirmed. With the duo now departing the GNSL post-constitution, no further promotions will be made.
This will also impact the Reg Davis Cup draw, with Barnwood United and Smiths Barometrics now set to receive byes into the Second Round.
Barnwood United will meet the winner of Tuffley Rovers Reserves vs Bream Amateurs, whilst Smiths Barometrics will head to the winner of Wickwar Wanderers vs Charfield.
The Gloucestershire Northern Senior League is set to kick off with the first round of fixtures on Saturday 1 August.
