Slimbridge U18s beat Longlevens 5-1 on Monday night to secure the Cheltenham Youth Floodlit League Premier Division title, completing another league and cup double for the club.

Having lifted the Herefordshire FA Giantkillers Cup last week, the Swans knew that one win from their final two league matches would secure the title and with their final two matches scheduled for consecutive nights, they got the job done at the first time of asking.

In reality it was job done after 32 minutes as Theo Browne added his second of the night to make it 3-0 before half time – but the visitors saw the game out in efficient style in the end.

The game proved to be one game too far for Longlevens, who finish 3rd in the Premier Division table after a inconsistent final month of the season.

Slimbridge will be presented with the league trophy on Tuesday night following their home game against Cirencester Town in their final match of another successful campaign for the club’s U18s section.

Kieran Brice-Ingles’ side started the brighter and took the lead on 14 minutes when left back Kieran Moore crossed from the left for Theo Browne to smash back across goal and past Joe Poole.

That goal settled the game down, with Longlevens having to try and force the issue. Theo Myles hooked an effort towards goal, but Kieran Winstone held on well.

The second came on half an hour as a free kick from the right was headed home by Swans captain Will Djiaha-Nsangou, with the third coming just 90 seconds later.

Browne skipped into the box again, before cutting back and smashing past Poole to make it 3-0.

Alfie Mann nearly added a fourth just before half time, but Poole saved well with his legs.

Browne completed his hattrick just before the hour mark after getting onto the end of a long ball down field from Winstone. The forward got into the box, cut inside, rounded Poole and smashed home.

Longlevens responded almost immediately as Theo Myles reduced arrears, however Browne crossed from the right for Fin Hopkins to nod home his side’s fifth of the game.

Browne was tormenting the Levens defenders and after being brought down in the box, gave the opportunity for Ewan Champion to score for the first time this season from the penalty spot.

Champion squandered the chance though, sending his penalty sailing over the bar.

Full time saw the Slimbridge players applauded off and celebrated by the Swans’ supporters and committee, who will all head to Thornhill Park tonight to receive the trophy.
