Slimbridge & Cinderford Town learn FA Vase fate after Second Round wins

Slimbridge and Cinderford Town have learned their opponents in the FA Vase Third Round after both advancing this weekend.
The Swans will play host to Wessex League side Amesbury Town after dispatching Ivybridge Town 5-0 in Saturday’s Second Round tie.
Goals from Jack Smith, Jack W Smith, Charlie Hitchings, Aaron Evans-Harriot and Alex Bell saw Slimbridge secure a spot in the Third Round for the first time since 2006/07 season.
Slimbridge will fancy their chances against the step 6 side, as they get ready to host only their third FA Vase tie in three seasons.
Incredibly, Cinderford Town maintained their record of advancing in the Vase this season on penalties, with all four ties in this season’s run ending level after 90 minutes and the Foresters firing their way to victory from the spot.
Lewis Powell had given his side the lead before Helston levelled with just over 20 minutes remaining.
And despite missing a penalty in the final 15 minutes, the hosts scored all five in the shoot-out and have been rewarded with a trip to AFC Stoneham of the Wessex League Premier Division.
Cinderford have reached the Third Round proper for the first time since the 1991/92 season – although this season is only the fifth season since that run where the Foresters have entered the competition.
Both ties are set for Saturday 6 December, with the winners earning £1125 if they are victorious.
