LISTEN: Dursley Town lift Reg Davis Cup with win over Whaddon United

Dursley Town won the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League’s Reg Davis Cup on Wednesday night, beating Whaddon United 1-0 in a closely fought final.
Jack Hughes’ header just before half time was the only goal of the game, with Ben Deakin’s side putting in a superb defensive display to shut out their opponents.
Kurtis Burrows blazed over from the penalty spot inside the final 10 minutes with Whaddon’s best chance of a leveller and Dursley went on to lift the cup, which they deserved based on the 90 minutes.
The GNSL Division One leaders have only conceded eight goals from thirteen games in all competitions this season and have now kept their 7th clean sheet of the campaign – including three on the bounce.
For Whaddon, they go close to silverware again after narrowly missing on the league title last season, but they may see the second half in particular as a missed opportunity to really impose themselves on the game.
Dursley will get a weekend to celebrate their cup win as they are not back in action until next weekend when they host Wickwar Wanderers in the GFA Senior Amateur Cup.
Whaddon will look to dust themselves down and continue where they left off in the league (a 7-0 win against Brockworth) when they host Bibury on Saturday.
