The Stroud & District Football league have announced that they will be introducing a new award to honour the late Kevin Pride, who passed away during the summer.

Following the league’s meeting this past week, they have released the following statement about the award.

At this week’s Stroud & District Football League club meeting, it was confirmed that the league will be honouring long standing player from Horsley & Rodbrough, Kevin Pride.

Kevin sadly passed away suddenly during this Summers break. it goes without saying that Kevin’s family, friends, playing colleagues and the league are devastated by this news.

When remembering Kevin it was apparent that everyone would remember their astonishment of his prolific goalscoring, not only in quantity but for his audacious ability to score from angles and positions that were nigh on impossible. His favoured trick would be to be straight from the kick off.

He was also a great character a friendly player, & never gave any trouble to anyone on the field of play, a credit to himself.

To this we would like to honour Kevin’s memory by introducing a goal of the season award, a panel will sit and judge the goals scored throughout the season and ultimately pick a winner.

The league will then present an award annually to the winning player.

The award is to be named The Kevin Pride Goal of the Season Memorial Award
