The Ultimate Gloucestershire Football Season Preview 2025/26 – Part 1

It is that time of year when Severn Sport previews the Gloucestershire football season and this year we have a podcast to go alongside our annual predictions.

Our man Ryan Butler has been joined once again by Cheltenham Town reporter Jon Palmer and Sam Yapp to cast their eyes over the new season.

On Monday, the usual post will go up with their picks to win the Hellenic Premier, Division One, Gloucestershire County League and the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League divisions, as well as their teams and players to watch in the leagues this campaign.

For starters though, we have upgraded the post where the three pick their overall team to watch within the county and combined it with a look at the three most senior men’s sides in Cheltenham Town, Forest Green Rovers and Gloucester City – plus the Southern League duo of Bishops Cleeve and Hartpury University.

The show is available to listen to below, and on Spotify and Amazon Music and consists of Palmer discussing Cheltenham Town’s new season and the excitement of a potential takeover, Bishops Cleeve looking to go one better after play-off heartbreak plus his team to watch.

Yapp will be looking at Forest Green, who under Robbie Savage, will be looking to put their own play-off disappointment behind them as well as Hartpury FC stepping up into the Southern League and his team to look out for.

And Butler assesses how Gloucester City are shaping up for their second attempt to try and gain promotion back into the National League, with Daf Williams at the helm after his return to the club, as well as the team he will be keeping a close eye on this season.
