“They deserve the title” – Gloucester City Women squad react after securing league title

Going into Sunday’s fixtures, Gloucester City Women Reserves looked set to secure the league title, but it would be their first team being crowned Champions come the end of the weekend.
Goals from Sachi Kaneko-Grun, Lucabella Davis and Kassidy Grey saw Chris Hill’s side run out 3-1 winners away at Paulton Rovers, knowing that they could win the SWWFL Division One North title at home to Downend Flyers this weekend.
But then, news came through that 2nd place Bitton Ladies had unexpectantly been defeated by Corsham Town and the title was City’s.
Following the news, players, Management and supporters alike have taken to social media to express their joy in seeing City win the league in their second season at the level.
Manager Chris Hill took to Facebook to post a heart-warming message about his impressive squad.
“This squad has been something else this year. The focus, the workrate and the dedication has been second to none. They deserve this title. Every single one of them. My backroom team have been immense also. Darren Golding, Matt Jones, Ioan Richards, Jonny Evans, Roi Gill have been incredible also in their support and drive to get this squad performing at levels that are simply breath-taking at times. This is one I will savour for a long time. Season isn’t over yet but we will finish strongly and then we look ahead to next season and what we can do there.
Proud doesn’t come close to how I feel tonight.”
On Twitter, injured First Team Captain, Chloe Golding expressed her pride in her teammates for their achievement.
So proud of the girls to get it over the line!

A new challenge awaits!
On a personal note i’m gutted to have missed half the season after rupturing my ACL but it’s been a pleasure to play with these girls!
Up the City ❤️💛 https://t.co/hMGtKgG9uq
