Wednesday 14 May – Winterbourne United 1-1 Tewkesbury Town
Sunday 25 May – Longlevens Ladies 0-9 Whitchurch Ladies
Check out this month’s XI below:
Goalkeeper – Ash Gale (Nailsworth Town) – An experienced player in a play-off final is always going to be an asset, but when it’s a keeper like Ash Gale who loves saving penalties, it makes no surprises to me to see him save a crucial penalties in the shoot-out to earn his side promotion.
Right Back – Jacob Leach (Barnwood United Reserves) – Alongside experienced players, in play-off finals you need players who will get stuck in, give it their all and lead by example and Leach really stood out for me from right back. He defended well and got forward when needed before being pushed further forward late on. A really solid display.
Centre Back:- Ethan Matthews (Nailsworth Town) & Sam Styman (Gala Wilton 3rds) – I’ve combined both centre halves here and it’s because both Nailsworth and Gala 3rds defended so well during their play-off final that I’ve decided to pick one from each team, with Matthews and Styman two stand-outs on the day.
Left Back – Jamie Apew (Nailsworth Town) – The third Nailsworth player to make the team, Apew put in a carbon copy performance of Leach for Barnwood. Defended well, got forward when needed and was impressive for 90 minutes for his side.

Midfield – Izzy Kester (Longlevens Ladies) – Longlevens Ladies suffered three defeats in front of us in May and Izzy Kester was a stand-out in all three. She scored a couple of spectacular strikes against Mangotsfield and Boco and you could see how much confidence she was playing with – which for a young player, is great to see!
Midfield – Henry Miles (Cheltenham Saracens U18s) – Two goals in the Severn Sport Cup final at crucial times for his side, the Sarries Captain really showed his quality when it mattered and was in the running for MOTM on the day. Very impressive from him.
Midfield – Owen Johnson (Tetbury Town) – Out of all of the Stroud League Cup and play-off finals we saw, Owen Johnson probably put in the best individual performance of the lot, we said on commentary at the time that he looked set to be an unlucky loser and after his injury time leveller, it was destiny that Tetbury would go on to lift the cup.
Forward – Bradley Roberts (Cheltenham Saracens U18s) – The MOTM of the Severn Sport Cup final and Bradley’s performance was outstanding, from start to finish. He scored two very well taken goals, and set the tone for his side in front of a big crowd at Kayte Lane. Exceptional.
Forward – Aimee Clark (Whitchurch Ladies) – There is no surprise to see Clark shortlisted for the Women’s Player of the Season in the End of Season Awards. Five goals against Longlevens means she finishes with 40+ goals once again and the thing that continues to impress, is that she scores all types of goals. Spectacular efforts, close range poacher goals and linking up with teammates as part of a neat team move. What a player.
Forward – Issey Cannon (AEK Boco Ladies Reserves) – It was so easy to put Cannon in this team. She was superb against Longlevens and scored two really good goals. It was the first time I have seen Cannon play since her knee injury last season and it’s great to see her back on the pitch and back in form.
