The Severn Sport Tipster League is back!

For the eighth year in a row, 10 competitors will go head-to-head in a bid to be crowned Severn Sport’s King Tipster(s) for the next 12 months.

Tuesday brought a great first day, giving our competitors plenty of chances to rack up some early points and then the table started to take shape on day two, with a distinct top half and bottom half forming.

Day three saw the leaders stretch away, but anything could happen on a scintillating fourth and final day.

Going into the day these were the selected races:

Let’s see how the final day went.

JCB Triumph Hurdle

  1. Majborough (6/1)
  2. Kargese (4/1)
  3. Salver (10/1)

A good start for some of our field.

All of Mr Slimbridge AFC, Top Trotters and Bacon had the winner, so scored 3 points.

Elsewhere, Sweet Prince and Money Man Ash claimed 1 point each for a place, whilst both SPM27 and Can’t Bowl. Bat at No.8 used their XPlace boost to secure two places and 2 points.

County Hurdle

  1. Absurde (12/1)
  2. L’eau Du Sud (7/2 Fav)
  3. Pied Piper (14/1)
  4. Magical Zoe (8/1)

A quiet race this time around, with limited points scored.

Top Trotters, Mr Slimbridge AFC, PLFC, Sweet Prince and SPM27 all scored 1 point for a place.

The only other points scored were 4 points for No luck catching them swans then, who had the winner and 3rd.

Money Man Ash also scored 2 points for his antepost tip finishing 3rd.

Albert Bartlett Handicap Hurdle

  1. Stellar Story (33/1)
  2. The Jukebox Man (18/1)
  3. Dancing City (8/1)

Pulled up: High Class Hero, Readin Tommy Wrong

Drama with the favourite absolutely emptying two out. Minus points aplenty.

Sweet Prince, Mr Slimbridge AFC, Can;t Bowl. Bat at No.8 and Bacon scored -2 points, whilst SPM27 had both pulled up horses, so scored -4 points.

Money Man Ash had a place, but both of the pulled up horse so scored a rare -3 points, whilst The Fox scored -1 point for having a place and a pulled up horse.

The only competitor get score positively was Top Trotters, who scored 1 point for a place.

So with that, the Gold Cup was our final race.

Boodles Gold Cup

  1. Galopin Des Champs (10/11 Fav)
  2. Gerri Colombe (13/2)
  3. Corach Rambler (14/1)

Pulled up: Gentlemansgame, Monkfish, The Real Whacker, Nassalam
Unseated Rider: Fastorslow

Seven of the tipsters had the winner, meaning it was 6 points for all of Sweet Prince, SPM27, Mr Slimbridge AFC, Can’t Bowl. Bat at No.8, Top Trotters, Bacon and No luck catching them swans then.

PLFC scored 2 points for having the second place, whilst Money Man Ash was unlucky to not score a point as is selection finished 4th.

The Fox scored -2 points after his horse pulled-up.

Here is how the final table looks:

Mr Slimbridge AFC was in front from the opening day and it felt like it would a case of just how much he wins by!

Colin breaks all of the tipster league scoring records, with the highest points, joint-highest wins (equal to his return in 2021) and the highest bonus points difference.

Can’t Bowl. Bat at No.8 had a great second day, but ultimately couldn’t catch the leader. Their score would have won 5 of the 7 previous tipster leagues.

Top Trotters finish in the places once again and remained consistent throughout, as did 4th place, PLFC, who were let down by a poor third day.

SPM27 were unlucky with a number of their winner selections placing, which has cost them a podium place.

Much better from No luck catching them swans then who were in the bottom two for nearly three days!

Bacon and Sweet Prince were disappointing, and were let down by a number of selections failing to finish the race.

Money Man Ash and The Fox will need to do much better next year!

Thank you to the tipsters for joining us this year and to everyone who has read the posts! See you next year
