Lydney Town are set to complete the signing of five new players, including former Newport County midfielder Ruben Fahiya.
Central midfielder Fahiya joined Newport County’s Youth setup in 2017 before recently being released.
Fahiya spent the start of 2020 on loan to Southern League side Bristol Manor Farm before the season was suspended due to the on-going covid-19 pandemic.
The Welshman is the only one of the five who’s registration has been completed and he could be in line to make his debut for Lydney against Fairford Town this weekend.
The other four players are currently unnamed as the moves have not been completed as three of the players are being signed from Welsh football, so their moves are currently the subject of international clearance.
Severn Sport understands that Lydney will be signing a right back, two centre backs and another central midfielder.
The fifth signing is an player currently playing in the Gloucestershire County League but is currently unnamed until the move goes through.
Should all the signings be completed as planned, then the other four should join Fahiya in the matchday squad for the visit of Shrivenham next weekend.
Lydney find themselves restart their campaign in 14th position, having only won once in their opening six Hellenic Premier Fixtures, but have already beaten Fairford in the FA Vase this season despite being knocked out of the FA Cup by Saturday’s opposition.
The home league fixture against Fairford Town on Saturday kicks off at 14:00
