Tewkesbury Town booked their place in the Reg Davis Cup Final with a comfortable 3-0 win over Longlevens Reserves on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Alex Roder and Scott Jordan had the visitors ahead at the break, before former Levens forward Henry McMahon capped off the scoring in second half injury time to seal their spot in the final.

The visitors started well, with Roder curling wide from the left side of the box on two minutes.

But Roder didn’t have to wait too long for his goal and it was a good move at that.

Jamie Goodwin played a neat dummy on the right side of the box, before being slipped into space. Goodwin fired across the six yard box and Roder was on hand to slot home.

Former Cheltenham Saracens man, Goodwin, started brightly and nearly doubled his side’s lead – but saw his effort saved by Toby Boakes.

Goodwin and Roder combined again, but Roder skied his effort from 18 yards.

From there Longlevens settled, with Matt Emmett latching onto a backpass, but was unable to turn his effort on target – before being found in the box, but he couldn’t get his shot off.

Then on half an hour, Tewkesbury struck a killer second blow. After a corner kick from the right was recycled by Jack Spark, Scott Jordan rose highest at the back post to head home.

The second half was a measured and confident display from Tewkesbury, with the visitors keeping their opponents at an arms length and managing the game effectively.

Both sides cancelled each other out, with Longlevens forcing a flurry of corners, but not really testing Xavi Welch in the Tewkesbury goal.

Billy Barlow thought he had added a third for the current GNSL Division One leaders, but saw his effort ruled out for a handball as he took the ball in his stride.

Longlevens had a number of shots off-target in the final ten minutes, with Essa Sabally and Ollie Morrisey unable to test the goalkeeper.

And in injury time, Tewkesbury broke and added a well taken third, as Barlow laid the ball into the path of Henry McMahon, and the substitute fired across Boakes and into the far corner.

Tewkesbury will find out who they will face in the final on Wednesday night, with Hardwicke facing Tredworth Tigers in Semi Final two at Saw Mills – a game you can listen to live on Severn Sport!

Both sides are at home in the league next weekend, with Tewkesbury hosting Smiths Barometrics, whilst Longlevens Reserves welcome Charfield to Longford Lane.
