Wednesday 30 July – Longlevens 5-1 Lydney Town
Check out this month’s XI below:
Goalkeeper – Sam Gilder (Bishops Cleeve) – The best goalkeeping performance we saw this month was from Gilder in the Severn Sport Shield final. He came in for the unavailable Lewis Clayton and was outstanding. Maintains his place from the Team of the Tournament.
Right Back – Dan Roddis (Longlevens) – Roddis was in the running for a spot in the Team of the Tournament after the semi final vs Bishops Cleeve, but after missing finals day he was edged out. But a solid performance from him against Lydney sees him get the nod.
Centre Back – Ryan Ponting (Slimbridge) – I was delighted to see Ponting have a solid July for Slimbridge, after joining the club. He topped it off with a well taken goal against Sharpness in front of Sam and fingers crossed he can follow it up with a good season.
Centre Back:- Ben Richards-Everton (Gloucester City) – BRE was probably City’s second best player last season and he is back in imperious form again this July. He will be a massive player once again for the Tigers, for sure.
Left Back – Jack Byard (Longlevens) – Another player who keeps his place from the Severn Sport Shield Team of the Tournament after yet another really good performance against Lydney. Archie Myatt is an exciting young player and for the most part, Byard controlled him well enough.

Midfield – Corey Warrington (Tuffley Rovers) – The Man of the Match from the first league game we covered this season, Warrington is getting better and better by the season. Could be a massive campaign for him.
Midfield – Ed Williams (Gloucester City) – Williams has looked really good in pre-season for City and in a quality midfield, if City aspire to gain promotion this time around, then he could play a big part in that.
Midfield – Shiyak Sutherland (Longlevens) – Sutherland has looked like the player that attracted so much buzz a couple of seasons ago and has worked harder for the team in the last month than at previous points. Two clinical goals against Lydney and two really good showings in the Shield see him ease into the team.
Forward – Fin Gwillim (Longlevens) – We are very lucky to have seen two hattricks in the first month of the season and both were exceptionally taken. Gwillim had one of the best individual performances we have seen for a while, on Wednesday night and will be a massive player for Levens this season.
Forward – Ross Langworthy (Bishops Cleeve) – The first hattrick we saw, unsurprisingly, belonged to Langworthy and he followed it up with a superb showing in the Severn Sport Shield. If I was a betting man, which I am, I would make him early favourite for Severn Sport Player of the Season come May.
Forward – Jay Malshanskyj (Bishops Cleeve) – The Player of the Tournament for the Severn Sport Shield after a fantastic showing in the final and when you look at Cleeve last season, Malshanskyj departing for a short period to Taunton could have been the difference between play-offs and seriously pushing for the title. Unreal player.
Here is the XI in full:

The subs bench includes 7 players to impress over the month and in full, they are below:
Steve Davies (Bishops Cleeve)
Ryan Harry (Chalford)
Andy Maryon (Chalford)
Harlie Price (Cirencester Town)
Jack W Smith (Slimbridge)
Dan Hill (Fairford Town)
Harley Mustoe (Tuffley Rovers)
This month’s team will be managed by Bishops Cleeve boss Paul Collicutt after his side secured the 2025 Severn Sport Shield, with the duo of Buster Davies and Pete Boyle close behind after an unreal opening day win against Lydney Town.

The Severn Sport Team of the Month continues next month – with the Severn Sport Player of the Month – sponsored by Cirencester Carpet Centre also returning.
