TOTM2025

The Severn Sport Team of the Month is here once again!

As with previous years, the Severn Sport Team of the Month is sponsored by Murdock & Wasley Estate Agents.

Luke Murdock and Matt Wasley have been fantastic supporters of Severn Sport for a number of years and they are run one of the most successful estate agents within Gloucestershire.

The Severn Sport Team of the Month includes players that have stood-out in the featured games during the previous month.

A disrupted December meant that we were only able to get to 7 games, but they were:

Saturday 6 December – Bishops Cleeve 1-0 Exmouth Town
Saturday 6 December – Tuffley Rovers 4-0 Worcester Raiders
Wednesday 10 December – Longlevens 2-1 Slimbridge
Saturday 13 December – Gloucester City 3-3 Worthing
Sunday 14 December – Gloucester City Women 2-2 Pucklechurch Sports Ladies
Saturday 20 December – Gloucester City 6-1 Hungerford Town
Saturday 20 December – Bishops Cleeve 2-1 Willand Rovers

Check out this month’s XI below:

Goalkeeper – Drew Brei (Longlevens) – Brei came ever-so-close to being in the starting XI for last month but Tash Hibbert just edged past him, there was no one edging past him this month. Yes he gave away a late penalty against Slimbridge, but the impact he has had on the Longlevens defence ahead of him is undeniable. A very, very good signing for Levens.

Right Back – Natalie Coles (Pucklechurch Sports Ladies) – Coles really impressed in the draw against Gloucester City and that was before she bundled home the opener from a corner. Both of this month’s full backs scored goals in front of Severn Sport and are worthy inclusions.

Centre Back:-Mat Liddiard (Bishops Cleeve) – Having known Mat Liddiard for years I know that whilst he is a lovely bloke, he is one hell of a competitor on the pitch and it came to no shock to me to see Alfie impressed with him during December. Narrowly edges out teammate Jake Lee, who has to settle for a place on the bench.

Centre Back – Michael O’Regan (Gloucester City) – If the season stopped now then Michael O’Regan would be one of the favourites for both the Gloucester City supporters’ Player of the Season and the Signing of the Season at the Severn Sport End of Season awards – he has been absolutely superb and continued to impress in December.

Left Back – Jay Wells (Longlevens) – Goalscoring full backs are in this month and Wells makes the team after appearing at centre back for November. Scoring the eventual winner against Slimbridge to cap off a superb 2025 and first half of this season for him.

Midfield – Corey Warrington (Tuffley Rovers) – Warrington just about edges out Kieran Alder after a 4-0 win over Worcester Raiders. The biggest compliment I can give Corey is that Tuffley do look like a completely different team when he is not there. A workhorse, who is improving week by week.

Midfield – Maggie Neall (Gloucester City Women) – Whilst Neall played on the left wing during the 2-2 draw with Pucklechurch, she makes the team as part of a midfield three and to be honest, she is THAT good she could probably play anywhere so it still makes sense to put her in here.

Midfield – Lucabella Davis (Gloucester City Women) – Davis was superb in the game against Pucklechurch, which turned out to be on her birthday! City coming back in the second half and going agonisingly close to winning came from Davis taking control of the midfield and linking the play very well.

Forward – Elis Watts (Gloucester City) – Watts scored one of the best hattricks I have ever seen in person in the win against Hungerford and it capped off a superb month and season so far for the ‘Welsh Wizard.’ He has been outstanding this month – with the hattrick coming after a great display against Worthing.

Forward – Fin Gwillim (Longlevens) – Gwillim has been red hot this season and is one of the reasons Longlevens have gone from fighting relegation last season to having a serious chance of battling for the play-offs this time around. He adds more than just goals, but as you’d expect, his goals are always crucial.

Forward – Lewis Driscoll (Longlevens) – Completing the forward line, Driscoll makes the team after a great showing in the win over Slimbridge. Driscoll claimed the assist for the winner and continues to work his ass off for his team. Driscoll has been a really steady signing for Longlevens and offers them something different between the striker and midfield lines.

Here is the XI in full:

The subs bench includes 7 players to impress over the month and in full, they are below:

Joe Hanks (Gloucester City)
Jake Lee (Bishops Cleeve)
Caitlin Hale (Gloucester City Women)
Sam Blackie (Slimbridge)
Kieran Alder (Tuffley Rovers)
Amy Jeffries (Pucklechurch Sports Ladies)
Callum McLean (Tuffley Rovers)

This month’s team will be managed by Gloucester City Manager Daf Williams after seeing his side advance into the Fourth Round of the FA Trophy and claim a number of big points leading into Christmas.
