Sam’s Section: Slimbridge bid to end Dursley’s unbeaten home record, Hartpury seek Hellenic summit and Senior Amateur Cup heats up
The twist and turns continue to form across all the Gloucestershire divisions so this week I’m taking a look at some of the standout fixtures to keep an eye on starting from tonight.
Dursley Town u18s v Slimbridge u18s (Cheltenham Youth Floodlit League, Rednock School, Thursday October 17th, KO 19:30pm)
Tonight I head to Rednock School for what promises to be a tantalising affair as local rivals Dursley Town u18s take on Slimbridge u18s in the Cheltenham Youth Floodlit League South.
The young Swans are heading into just their second league game of the season hunting down their first win but will have their heads held high following a 5-0 triumph over Stourport Swifts u18s on Tuesday night in the Giantkillers Cup.
But it will be tough task as Dursley are unbeaten at home in their last five games, winning all four this season, whilst also scoring an incredible 21 goals during those four wins.
A chance to go joint top of the table awaits Dursley who know three points will keep the pace on an unbeaten Bishops Cleeve u18s.

Hartpury University v Corsham Town (Hellenic League Premier, Hartpury University Stadium, Saturday October 19th, KO 3pm)
One of the standout fixtures in the Hellenic Premier this weekend sees Hartpury University look to go top of the league as they face an out of form Corsham Town.
Hartpury are currently enjoying an unbeaten run of nine games, winning all of their last four whilst Corsham have suffered an uncharacteristic patch of form losing six on the bounce after beginning the season with eight straight wins.
League leaders, Roman Glass St George, are not in action this weekend so Hartpury could open a three point lead with a win and sit top of the Hellenic Premier for the first time.
Whaddon United v Dursley Town (GFA Senior Amateur Cup, Whaddon Recreation Ground, Saturday October 19th, 14;30pm)
While their youth side look to continue their fine form, Dursley’s first team will be looking to get back to winning ways with a rematch over Whaddon United, who ended their 100% league record last weekend.
A break from the league might just be the trick as the Senior Amateur Cup second round gets underway this weekend with Dursley this time travelling to Whaddon who are currently enjoying a run of eight straight wins.
In the opening round of the competition Whaddon cruised past Stonehouse Town with a 5-1 victory whilst Dursley received a bye straight into the second round.
