Longlevens Reserves set up Semi Final against Dursley with win in Reg Davis Cup

Longlevens Reserves were laboured but secured their spot in the Reg Davis Cup Semi Finals with a 2-0 win over a very game Barnwood United side.
After a goalless first half, second half strikes from Alex Knight and James Barnett saw Levens get over the line in a game that was anything but comfortable for the hosts.
Barnwood were quicker to the second ball and pressed the Division One side from the off, creating chances for Ryan Cook and Dan Smith – but neither were able to test keeper George Weaver.
Joey Haswell had the hosts best chance of the half, but rushed his effort in injury time and scuffed wide at the back post.
Levens came out for the second half with more intent and were able to create chances. Soyan Sherchan curled a free kick over from the edge of the box as they pressed for an opener.
Smith dragged a good effort wide for Barnwood and that seemingly shook Levens up and they took the lead just moments later.
Alex Knight’s effort from the edge of the box took a deflection and it flew agonisingly beyond Kyran Ridley in the Barnwood goal.

The goal gave the hosts a sense of relief and with the likes of James Barnett, Kaya Demirok and Tom Spencer coming off the bench, they were able to freshen up with quality and experience.
Barnett chased onto a through ball but slid his effort past Ridley and his far post, with ten minutes to go, before Sherchan’s goal bound volley was blocked.
Knight forced Ridley into a really good save with a stunning effort from 20 yards, before Barnett added a second in injury time.
Barnett took advantage of a slight mix up at the back and tapped home into the empty net to seal the deal.

Longlevens Reserves will now host Dursley Town in their Semi Final after Dursley secured a 1-0 win over Gala Wilton on Wednesday night.
Wilfred Darley’s strike enough to see Ben Deakin’s side make the final four on Saturday 6 September.
Whaddon United beat Stonehouse Town Reserves 3-1 in their Quarter Final, with a brace from Callum Denman and a Zack Hodges effort enough to see them progress.
And they will head Painswick after a dramatic Quarter Final win over Tredworth.
Initially the game showed as abandoned on FA Full Time, with rumours circulating of an incident and number of red cards seeing the game brought to a premature close in injury time, with Painswick leading 3-2.
But this has been amended and confirmed by the league as a full time score and the game was not abandoned, so Painswick will take their place as the only Division Two side in the final four.
