LISTEN: Longlevens 5ths produce late comeback to deny Gloster Rovers fairytale ending in Fred Gardiner Shield final

Longlevens 5ths scored two late goals to win the Stroud League’s Fred Gardiner Shield final, beating Gloster Rovers 2-1 at Thornhill Park.
A stunning overhead kick from Danny Knight and volley from Filton Gardiner was enough to see Andy Trout’s side deny Rovers victory in their final ever game as a side.
Gloster had led at the break, thanks to Jordan Grinnell’s strike, and just when it looked like they had resisted everything that Levens could throw at them, Knight produced a superb effort to restore parity.
But it would be a heart-breaking end for Rob Williams and his side, when Gardiner hooked an effort home after a corner kick was nodded out.
Gloster played their part in a tremendous cup final and close the final chapter on their story by coming ever so close to silverware.
