LISTEN AGAIN: Gloucester City limp to penalties victory over Bishops Cleeve to lift GFA Senior Challenge Cup
Gloucester City ended a disastrous 2023/24 season by winning the Gloucestershire FA Senior Challenge Cup, but the manner of the victory won’t do much to spare the blushes of a tough night.
Bishops Cleeve were winning 2-1 going into second half injury time, after Jay Malshanskyj and Ross Langworthy had seen the Mitres deservedly overturn Theo Robinson’s first half opener.
But as the game ticked into the third minute of nine added, Robinson slotted home to send the tie into penalties.
Despite two good Lewis Clayton saves in the shoot-out, Spencer Hamilton would step up and secure the county cup for his side.
The feeling in the stadium and on social media after the game, was that the end result had very little baring on what was a lethargic showing from Mike Cook’s side.
