Tredworth Tigers and Dursley Town played out a 1-1 draw in their massive meeting in the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One.

With just two points separating the sides prior to kick off, the hosts took the lead through Jamie Morgan’s follow up to a spilled free kick.

But the visitors levelled before half time, as Sean Monday nodded home from a free kick into the box and neither side managed to find a winner.

The closing stages of the game saw both sides lose men, with Courtney Hamilton sent off for an incident that broke out into a scuffle, before Connor Harmer and Lee Dyer were sent off for either side following second yellow cards.

The result allowed Longlevens Reserves to move above Tredworth, after their 5-1 win at Berkeley Town, as the title race begins to really heat up.

The game started with both sides feeling their way into the contest.

Karl Nash whipped the first goalbound effort just over, before Tredworth broke the deadlock just after the half hour mark.

After Nick Hill’s free kick was spilled by Ben Jagger, Jamie Morgan was on hand to fire home the rebound.

But Tredworth only held their lead for four minutes, before Connor Harmer’s swinging free kick was headed home by Sean Monday.

Both sides exchanged good chances before the break, but Ben Dolbear slipped at the final moment when played in, and Nick Hill flicked a Dave Rich free kick wide.

The second half started with Tredworth going close to regaining the lead, but Dave Rich’s effort was easy for Jagger to collect.

Brett James, who replaced an injured Lee Smith just before half time, dribbled a good 30 yards before laying left to Corey Hill – but the forward crashed his effort off the bar.

A flurry of yellow cards saw the game liven up just after the hour mark,

Tredworth went lose again moments later, but Corey Hill’s effort was blocked on the edge of the box, with Corey Warrington’s follow up blazed over.

Jagger stood tall before saving with his legs to deny Brett James, as the hosts went in search for that crucial third goal.

Dursley thought they had won it twice, but first Karl Nash’s header and then Jake Dolbear’s follow up to a spilled free kick, were both chalked off for offside.

Then, with ten minutes to go, Courtney Hamilton was left bemused after being issued a red card following a scuffle between the two sides.

It seemed he was sent off for violent conduct after grabbing a Tredworth player during the melee.

But Dursley’s Connor Harmer and Tredworth’s Lee Dyer would also be given their marching orders, picking up second yellow cards and the game ended 9 vs 10.

Both sides will be disappointed to not have won the game, but it could be a crucial point come the end of the season.

Next up for Dursley is a home fixture with Smiths Barometrics next Saturday, whilst Tredworth have a free weekend.
