Gloucestershire Northern Senior League announce first title sponsor in 102 years
The Gloucestershire Northern Senior League have confirmed their first league title sponsor in their 102 year history – with local company Steve Gooch Estate Agents forming part of the “ground-breaking” partnership.
In a statement issued by the GNSL following their AGM on Wednesday night, the league said:
“The Gloucestershire Northern Senior Football League (GNSL) is pleased to announce after 102 years since their formation in 1922, they have for the first time attracted a League Title Sponsor in the form of Steve Gooch Estate Agents. (SGEA)
In a ground breaking partnership, the well known Estate Agency Group, has signed an agreement to assist managing operational changes within the League for 2024/25, and thereby raising the profile of the League across the County.
The GNSL AGM held this week, approved a new era of control under 8 Club Delegates, which opens the door to the 32 Club Members having a majority in voting rights. Each of the elected delegates will specifically represent 4 clubs.
Meanwhile the 7 Officers appointed will oversee the Competition, (still in two divisions), but ultimately the 8 Club Delegates will be the key to the future conduct of the League and be responsible for overall decision making.
In addition, for the first time in local football history, 4 female administrators will utilise their specialised skill sets to enhance the reputation of the League and bring a wider and new perspective to its operations.”
The league had postponed their AGM til Wednesday night, due to a potential issue with Chesterton and Leonard Stanley being provisionally placed in Stroud League Division Two for the 2024/25 season – an issue that was since resolved.
The extension to the AGM took place on Wednesday evening and the league’s 2024/25 season will now look to begin in it’s typical fashion, with the First Round of the Reg Davis Cup taking place on Saturday 3 August.
But the news of the GNSL’s new title sponsor will hopefully enhance the league’s reputation as a brand off the field, whilst the football action continues to bring in spectators and grow on the field.
Further in the league’s statement, President Colin Peake welcomed the new partnership:
“Having consulted with the Membership over the past 12 months, and hopefully assisting to explore a new pathway for clubs to meet their long term ambitions, this is now the right time to make changes,” Peake said.
“As part of this new era, it was wise to find a suitable and reputable local company to be the right partner to assist the financial implications these changes will cost.
I’ve had a long personal association with Steve Gooch and now with the Group of companies in the safe hands of his son Tom, I’m confident that in taking up this opportunity to join with us at such a pivotal time for the League, they will maximise the potential marketing benefits to be gained in their role of League Title Sponsor,” Peake added.
The Steve Gooch Estates Agents Gloucestershire Northern Senior League campaign begins with the First Round of the Reg Davis Cup on Saturday 3 August, before league action restarts the following weekend.
