Dursley Town u18s on cloud nine booking Severn Sport Cup semi-final spot in ruthless Cinderford showing
Dursley Town u18s cruised into the Severn Sport Cup semi-finals with an empathic 9-0 win against Cinderford Town u18s on Thursday night, writes Sam Yapp.
Dursley continued their impressive home form winning their ninth straight game at Rednock whilst also netting their 30th goal in their last three home games.
And it was a quick start from the home side who found themselves ahead on eight minutes when Joey Spill latched onto a loose ball at the back to round the goalkeeper and walk the ball home.
Then came an eight minute avalanche from Dursley starting on the half hour mark as Theo Browne drove a low effort into the far corner to double his sides lead.
It was 3-0 on 34 minutes when Alfie Poskett wriggled across the 18-yard box to pick out the bottom corner before Alfie Freeman lashed an effort home for 4-0 instantly from the restart.
And it was 5-0 just three minutes later when Browne notched his second of the evening incredibly curling a left footed effort into the top corner from 18-yards.
Dursley’s surge didn’t let up after the break as, on 52 minutes, Cinderford captain, Ben Phillips, turned a Browne cross into his own net, deflating the visitors a little bit more.
It wasn’t just the attackers finding the goal as, on 72 minutes, centre half Charlie Lewis headed home a spilled James Tainton effort.
Four minutes later Lewis’ defensive partner, Billy Mann, volleyed delightfully home from a Tainton corner making it 8-0.
And the scoring was completed on 81 minutes when Jake Hogg wrestled free to drive goal bound before dispatching cooly into the bottom corner, booking his sides spot in the semi-finals.
Dursley will want to carry this clinical momentum into next Thursday’s top of the table clash with Bishops Cleeve u18s at Rednock whilst Cinderford’s search for a first win since September continues against rivals Lydney Town u18s on Wednesday.
