Brockworth Albion claimed their first win since November with a 4-1 win at Tredworth Tigers, in a thrilling contest.
Tom Willetts’ side had only played three times since their defeat at Dursley at the end of November and had been narrowly beaten in each fixture.
But two goals in the final five minutes of the first half had Albion ahead at the break – although Tredworth had created plenty to believe they were still in the contest.
Rory Wilkinson curled in a beautiful third on the hour mark, before Tredworth were thrown a lifeline by substitute, Jamie Morgan.
Tredworth’s hopes of a comeback lasted four minutes, with Freddie Harris coming off the bench to add a fourth for the Badgers to earn them the spoils on the day.
The win sees Brockworth move up to 5th in the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One table, with Tredworth in 10th, six points ahead of the relegation places.
Tredworth have played three games more than Rodborough, who occupy the third relegation spot currently, with the two sides facing off at The Meadow next weekend.
For Brockworth, they welcome English Bicknor to Mill Lane for a fixture that will be equally as tough as this one.
The game itself saw both sides battle hard to settle on a tough, muddy pitch, and it was Tredworth who settled best.
Andrew Fries had an early effort saved by Brockworth keeper, Phil Chovenac, before Trae Blair looped an effort onto the bar.
Kedada Russell broke through from right back but after a rush of blood to the head, the Tredworth man blazed over.
Albion won a flurry of corners and for the majority of the first half looked like they would break the deadlock from a set piece.
But it was a long ball forward that saw Matty Cairns beat the offside trap and after Craig Collinson blocked the initial effort, Joel Grieve was on hand to slide it home.
And within seconds, it was two! Another ball forward saw Cairns once again beat the offside trap and this time he slotted past Collinson to secure his 9th goal of the season.

Cairns should have sealed the deal after half time, but after racing clear on the right he went alone and saw his effort blocked, when he had two teammates square for a tap in.
A massive sixty seconds all but decided the contest. Lee Dyer’s beautiful reverse pass saw Blair nudge his man away and with the goal at his mercy, could only fire at Chovenac.
Within seconds, Freddie Harris teed up Rory Wilkinson who hit a perfect curling effort past Collinson with the outside of his boot.
But credit to Tredworth, they kept going. James Bowers’ cross was just too heavy for Jamie Morgan, but it was the substitute who would give Tredworth a chance.
Another Lee Dyer reverse pass created the chance and this time Morgan let fly and smashed his effort beyond Chovenac.
Four minutes later, as Tredworth pushed for a second, Cairns’ cross was knocked down by Warren Thomas and Harris fired home after his first shot was blocked on the line.
Brockworth had chances to add to the scoreline, with Harris scooping at Collinson in the one on one and Ben Langworthy breaking forward before seeing his effort saved by Collinson’s feet.
In the end, Brockworth were just about good value for their win, but on another day Tredworth would have come away with their share of the points.
