Gloucestershire ESFA set for final at Southampton – so are Severn Sport!

Severn Sport are delighted to announce that we will have one final match to conclude our coverage of the 2020/21 season, as we will be commentating on Gloucestershire ESFA in the U18s Inter County Trophy final at Southampton’s St. Mary’s Stadium.

After beating Cleveland 5-1 in Round 3 at the end of May, Gloucestershire have set up a final against Sussex on Tuesday afternoon and after a week of making arrangements Severn Sport have been granted media passes and will be there live!

The game kicks off at 14:15 on Tuesday (15th June) and will be our final game of the season as Gloucestershire will play in the final a year after seeing their final postponed due to the Covid pandemic.

Gloucestershire were due to play Staffordshire in the U18s Inter County final in 2020 but after the final was called off the decision followed that announced both counties as joint-champions for the 2019/20 season.

So the final has been two years in the making for an impressive Gloucestershire side and we are delighted to be apart of it.

Following the confirmation, Severn Sport’s Head of Programming Ryan Butler looks ahead to the game:

“We had said on the Saturday morning shows and commentaries that we would take two weeks off to recharge the batteries, but after speaking to Paul Tassell at Hartpury and Alex Sykes and finding out that the game was being played at Southampton it meant that logistically we would be able to work something out.

Both Kelsey and I are delighted and very excited to not only commentate on the ESFA Inter County Cup final because of how prestigious commentating a national final is, but to say we are going to be commentating from a Premier League ground is mind-blowing.

With the plan to go back to Reading to visit family and friends next week, thankfully it has only meant that I am going back 24 hours later than planned so from a personal perspective it has all fallen into place incredibly well.

Thankfully my brother Ashley is available to meet us at St. Mary’s to help us document a big day for both Severn Sport and the Gloucestershire ESFA side, so we will have a three man team at the ground to provide coverage of what will hopefully be a day we will all remember fondly.

I’d like to thank Paul and Alex and anyone else who has helped make this opportunity possible, the support means a lot.”

Information regarding how to listen to the game will follow at the start of next week, but join us live from St. Mary’s Stadium for Gloucestershire vs Sussex in the ESFA U18s Inter County Trophy Final.
