Gloucestershire derby on opening day of Southern League season

Saturday 17 August sees the beginning of the Southern League Division One South season, with a local derby for us to sink our teeth into on the opening day.

In a repeat of the final game that we saw on Severn Sport in 2018/19, beaten play-off finalists Cinderford Town entertain the side they conquered in the semi-finals, Cirencester Town, at The Causeway on opening weekend.

Elsewhere, Evesham United will be at home for the season curtain raiser, with Paulton Rovers the visitors to The Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium.

Slimbridge will travel to Melksham Town to kick off their campaign, before welcoming Highworth Town to Thornhill Park on Wednesday 21 August for their first home match.

August Bank Holiday sees Evesham host Slimbridge, Cirencester take to the road at Highworth, with Cinderford welcoming Frome Town.

Boxing Day fixtures are, predictably, local derbies; Cinderford host Slimbridge and Cirencester will travel to Evesham for the festive matches.

On the final day there are plenty of home matches for local football fans to choose from, with Willand Rovers the visitors to Cinderford, Evesham welcoming Moneyfields and a final day derby with Cirencester at home to Slimbridge.
