Severn Sport End of Season Awards 2025: New nomination system, new awards and more!

Severn Sport are delighted to launch the End of Season Awards 2025!
For the last few seasons we have broadcast a live 2 hour programme at the end of the season to celebrate all things great about non-league football in Gloucestershire and once again this will take place live on Severn Sport.
On Saturday 7 June, Butler will host the programme to announce the winners of categories and celebrate another great season in the county.
This season, there are changes to how we will be conducting the nomination processes, which includes the initial announcement of a longlist – to show every single team or individual who receives a nomination.
Then, 15 individuals throughout Gloucestershire football have been invited to be part of the “Severn Sport Panel” to help narrow down that longlist into the final shortlist.
The shortlist will be decided on the merit of the nomination – so make sure you tell us why you are nominating for the individual or team!
Like previous years, we will be announcing the shortlisted nominees everyday in the run up to the live show, as we build to be the big curtain closer in our season.
The timeline of this year’s nomination process is below:

This year we have amended the list of categories to give you even more of a say.
In the form used to submit your nomination, you will also be able to nominate players to be in either the Men’s or Women’s XI of the Season.
Plus, we will also honour the healthy competition that some of our sides play throughout the year, with an Opposition Player of the Season – an award for the best player playing outside Gloucestershire that our sides may have faced.
Including the new award and the Men’s and Women’s XI of the Season, 18 categories will be announced during the show, with 16 open for nominations (Featured Game of the Season and Live Player of the Season will be decided by Severn Sport).
Here is the list of categories in full:
Player of the Season (Men’s)
Player of the Season (Women’s)

With the official launch of the 2025 End of Season Awards, Butler explains the changes:
“Every year we try to be as transparent as possible with the nominations. Ultimately there is so much football taking place on a weekly basis that we simply cannot see everything that happens.
I stress every year that the quality of nomination is massive. We try to provide space for the public to go into the form and tell us as much as possible as to why players, managers, teams deserve recognition – but yet we still get inundated with messages asking why X player or person hasn’t been nominated.
I would be completely stupid to expect everyone to see every single tweet or Facebook post Severn Sport puts out, so I am trying to find a way to be as clear as possible, whilst being as fair as possible – that is why we are adopting a similar approach to our friends at Football In Berkshire, by releasing a provisional longlist to show every nomination (except the joke ones, which we do sometimes see!).
Having a panel helps massively, and I thank every single one of them for accepting the invitation to help review the nominations and help shape the shortlists for the awards.
The Men’s and Women’s XIs of the Season allows individuals a further opportunity to help give recognition to players who may deserve a spot in the team, whilst maybe not being in line for a individual award. I am hoping we get two very interesting teams!
I can’t wait for it all to begin, the End of Season Awards has been something I have loved doing year upon year and like always, there are plenty of things to celebrate this season!“
Nominations open at 8am on Good Friday – 18 April and will close at 8am Monday 5 May
