The Gloucestershire County League play-off match between Winterbourne United and Bishops Cleeve Development will need to be replayed if Tewkesbury beat Cleeve on Wednesday night, the GFA have confirmed.

Wednesday sees match three of the play-offs taking place, with Tewkesbury needing to win in order to stand a chance of promotion, following their defeat to Winterbourne last week.

Bishops Cleeve Development looked set to be promoted after winning game one against Winterbourne United, 4-1, however this may need to be replayed.

A tweet was posted over the weekend to suggest an appeal had been lodged by Winterbourne for a potential ineligible player and the decision was to be confirmed by the GFA.

Severn Sport have received communications from the GFA, who have confirmed the following:

The first play-off match result (Winterbourne United vs Bishops Cleeve Development) has been voided following an appeal relating to player eligibility.

Last week’s result (Winterbourne United vs Tewkesbury Town) remains unaffected.

Tomorrow night’s match (Tewkesbury Town vs Bishops Cleeve Development) is not the second play-off match.

The GFA go on to explain the permutations surrounding tomorrow night’s play-off match.

If Tewkesbury Town win, a third match will be played on Wednesday 28 May (Winterbourne United vs Bishops Cleeve Development).

If Bishops Cleeve Development win, they and Winterbourne United will be promoted.

It is also worth noting that Winterbourne’s “goal difference” improves following the replay, meaning they have one win and a zero goal difference following their penalties victory over Tewkesbury Town last week.

This could be crucial if Tewkesbury were to be victorious on Wednesday, and goal difference came into play after game three.

Tewkesbury Town vs Bishops Cleeve Development on Wednesday 21 May at GFA HQ (Oaklands Park); kick off 19:30
