Captain Ash Davies and top goalscorer Zak Drew are two names among six who have committed to Cinderford Town for the 2021/22 season.
Former Bishop’s Cleeve and Fairford defender Davies joined ex-Cleeve manager Stephen Cleal at The Causeway at the start of the 2020/21 season.
Drew joined from Clevedon Town at the end of August last year and at one point had scored nine goals in nine appearances. His exciting performances gained recognition in the Severn Sport Team of the Month for September, as well as being named one of our Players to Watch for 2021/22.
Joining Davies and Drew in signing on for the next campaign are defenders Luke Payne and Tristan Haswell, goalkeeper Nick Jones and creative midfielder Lewis Spurrier.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Cleal said “It’s great to get these boys back around again and to be honest it was an easy conversation.
“I’ve known [Ash], [Tristian] and [Luke Payne] for a couple of years now, Jonesy, Zak and [Lewis] saw what we were trying to build last season and they will all play a big part in that.
“I am speaking to new players as well as those existing ones as we know what we were lacking last season at times so hopefully we can address that with the players we bring in – but that said the lads that were with us last year have now gained experience they didn’t have before so that will also put us in a better position.”
Also coming back for next season is Will Morford, who will remain as Cleal’s assistant manager, as well as Paul Bright, Rich Goodwin and Phil Tomkins who complete the backroom team.
