Severn Sport Shield 2025 – All you need to know

It’s that time of year again, time for the Severn Sport Shield!
Once again our pre-season tournament will be running and this time all roads lead to the TigerTurf Stadium as Gloucester City take their turn as hosts of the competition.
City were the first winners of the Shield back in 2018 and will square off against Fairford Town in the first Semi Final on Tuesday night.
2026 hosts Bishops Cleeve will then take on 2022 winners Longlevens in the second Semi Final on Wednesday night with the winners of the two games squaring off in the final on Saturday afternoon.
However, for the two defeated Semi Finalists, they will meet in a Third Place Play-off at Saturday lunchtime, with two games in one afternoon on offer this weekend.
Tickets are available for all games in advance, thanks to Gloucester City’s page on the Fanbase App.
Prices are £6 for adults, £5 for concessions and U18s free.

So how does the Severn Sport Shield work?
As mentioned, the two Semi Finals take place on Tuesday and Wednesday night this week – with both games kicking off at 19:45
Then, the two defeated sides will face off in the Third Place Play-off at 12pm on Saturday, with the final set for a 15:30 kick off – this is to allow the crossover of changing rooms to take place between the two games.
If any of the games are a draw after 90 minutes, then the ties will be settled by a penalty shoot-out – with no extra time being played.
All four sides are allowed to make unlimited substitutions – including playing a first half XI and second half XI if wished.
This is to allow flexibility to Managers, particularly with the forecast set to hit 30+ degrees on Saturday – with water breaks to be taken in all four matches if and when required.
After the final, the winning team will be presented with the Severn Sport Shield and Butler will present the Player of the Tournament award to the Man of the Match of the final.
