Severn Sport Player of the Month w/ Cirencester Carpet Centre – May 2025

The Severn Sport Player of the Month is back and this season, we are going at it alone!
Our new Player of the Month sponsor for the 2024/25 season is Cirencester Carpet Centre Ltd visit their website here to check out their range of carpets and vinyl flooring, directions to the showroom and contact information to arrange a viewing of their samples.
As usual, the Player of the Month shortlist is made up of three players included in the Team of the Month for that month – check out May’s Team of the Month here.
The winner is presented with the award and an image of them receiving the POTM trophy is then shared on Severn Sport’s social media during the following month.
Some of last season’s winners included Longlevens winger Shiyak Sutherland, Gloucester City Women Development Captain, Nicole Lewis, Slimbridge winger Rudi McKinnon and Chalford duo Ben Minnican and Luke Benneyworth.
The first Player of the Month of the season was Hartpury University’s Riley McGregor, whilst Claire Gabb of Gloucester City Women Reserves won the award for September and Longlevens defender Sam Kelly won the award for October.
Jacob Rodgers from Slimbridge was awarded the trophy for December, Toby Boakes of Longlevens U18s was awarded November’s accolade and Hartpury’s winger Ben Baxter picked up the award for January,
February’s award was presented to Longlevens U18s forward Henry Driver-Dickerson and March’s award went to Gloucester City U18s and Brockworth Albion goalkeeper Phil Chovanec.
So let’s check out this month’s shortlist

Aimee Clark (Whitchurch Ladies) – There is no surprise to see Clark shortlisted for the Women’s Player of the Season in the End of Season Awards. Five goals against Longlevens means she finishes with 40+ goals once again and the thing that continues to impress, is that she scores all types of goals. Spectacular efforts, close range poacher goals and linking up with teammates as part of a neat team move. What a player.
Issey Cannon (AEK Boco Ladies Reserves) – It was so easy to put Cannon in this team. She was superb against Longlevens and scored two really good goals. It was the first time I have seen Cannon play since her knee injury last season and it’s great to see her back on the pitch and back in form.
Izzy Kester (Longlevens Ladies) – Longlevens Ladies suffered three defeats in front of us in May and Izzy Kester was a stand-out in all three. She scored a couple of spectacular strikes against Mangotsfield and Boco and you could see how much confidence she was playing with – which for a young player, is great to see!
The Severn Sport Player of the Month for both April and May are now outstanding, with them likely to be presented during pre-season!
