Longlevens turn to former Tuffley forward to bolster attack
Longlevens are set to sign striker Ryan Dobbins in a bid to bolster their attacking options, ahead of a crucial run of games.
Dobbins is set to join the Hellenic Premier side on a dual registration with Herefordshire County League side, Ledbury Town, where he has scored eight goals in four appearances since his arrival at the club.
The former Cheltenham Saracens and Shortwood United man has experience of the Hellenic Premier, after his time at Tuffley Rovers and is set to move to Saw Mills in order to help Longlevens secure their safety in the division.
After Levens’ 2-0 defeat at home to Brimscombe & Thrupp on Saturday, they currently find themselves in 17th place and 14 points ahead of bottom placed Wantage Town, but knowing they play Wantage home and away in the coming weeks, the Gloucester-based side are still a few wins away from feeling comfortable.
Saturday’s defeat also means Longlevens are the lowest scoring Gloucestershire side in the division (32) and are still without top scorer, Brad Martin, for most of the run-in.
Speaking about his new addition, Longlevens Co-Manager Michael Palmer said the following:
“I’m really excited to have Ryan at the club, he is a proven goal scorer wherever he has been.
Ryan isn’t just a very good footballer but a fantastic person and to add a character like that to the club is a big plus for us – particularly with the games we have coming up.”
Longlevens host a crucial six-pointer with Wantage Town on Wednesday night, before a tough trip to Corsham Town on Saturday – with home games against Slimbridge, Fairford Town, Mangotsfield United and Cinderford Town to come in the next three weeks or so.
