Severn Sport are delighted to announce that the venues for the 2025 & 2026 renewals have been confirmed, with Gloucester City & Bishops Cleeve set to host the competition.

Gloucester City will welcome the Shield to the TigerTurf Stadium in July 2025, whilst the tournament heads to Bishops Cleeve’s Kayte Lane in 2026.

For those who don’t know, the tournament has four local sides competing over the course of a week, during pre-season.

The sides are drawn into two Semi Finals, with the winners playing in a Final, which follows a Third Place Play-off earlier in the day.

All games in the tournament take place at the same host ground, which moves from club to club over the years.

The pre-season tournament was started in 2018, with the Tigers lifting the Shield at Slimbridge’s Thornhill Park.

City will be featuring in the tournament for the first time since, with their U18s and U21s making appearances in 2019 and 2022 respectively.

Bishops Cleeve will be joining the Tigers in the 2025 tournament, before hosting the competition in 2026.

The Mitres made their Shield debut in 2023, finishing runners-up to Cirencester Town at the Corinium Stadium.

City and Cleeve will be joined at the TigerTurf Stadium by Fairford Town and Longlevens, with the semi finals to be confirmed shortly.

Semi Final One will take place on Tuesday 8 July, with Semi Final Two on Wednesday 9 July.

The Finals Day will take place on Saturday 12 July, with the Third Place Play-off at 12:00 and the Final kicking off at 15:30.

Severn Sport’s Ryan Butler shares his delight at the news of both hosts being confirmed.

“I’d like to thank Colin and Mike Cook at City and Colly at Bishops Cleeve for their co-operation in discussing plans for the 2025 & 2026 Severn Sport Shield.

Since City have returned to Meadow Park, we have wanted to have them take part in the Shield as hosts and after hosting the first Severn Sport Trophy last summer, it felt like more of a possibility.

After speaking to Cook and then Colin, I called Colly and explained my idea of having Cleeve included in the tournament this year and then offering them the chance to host next year.

Both clubs have some great, hard-working volunteers who help make the match day experience as memorable and fun as possible and to have them in place to host the next two tournaments, it really is exciting news.

What has been great since the beginning, is how well received the tournament has been from the hosts clubs, it helps make planning and running the tournament as easy as possible.”
