Severn Sport Team of the Month w/ Murdock & Wasley – February 2025

The Severn Sport Team of the Month is here once again!
As with previous years, the Severn Sport Team of the Month is sponsored by Murdock & Wasley Estate Agents.
Luke Murdock and Matt Wasley have been fantastic supporters of Severn Sport for a number of years and they are run one of the most successful estate agents within Gloucestershire.

The Severn Sport Team of the Month includes players that have stood-out in the featured games during the previous month.
In February, illness and bad weather saw us only cover 9 games, however we welcomed Alfie Richmond to covering his first game for Severn Sport. The 9 games were:
Saturday 1 February – Gloucester City 0-0 AFC Totton
Monday 3 February – Longlevens U18s 5-0 Fairford Town U18s
Tuesday 4 February – Tuffley Rovers 1-2 Shortwood United
Saturday 8 February – Tredworth Tigers 1-4 Brockworth Albion
Tuesday 11 February – Slimbridge 0-2 Thornbury Town
Sunday 16 February – Bitton Ladies 1-2 Gloucester City Women
Saturday 22 February – Bishops Cleeve 9-0 Helston Athletic
Sunday 23 February – Cirencester Town Ladies 0-1 Gloucester City Women
Tuesday 25 February – Hartpury University 5-1 Pershore Town
Check out this month’s XI below:
Goalkeeper – Leah Haney-Wilcox (Cirencester Town Ladies) – For the second time this season, Haney-Wilcox makes her way into the squad after a great showing against Gloucester City. With Ciren missing a few on the day, Haney-Wilcox was the stand-out in a very close fixture.
Right Back – Joel Grieve (Brockworth Albion) – Grieve scored and put in a great display from right back in the win over Tredworth Tigers and continues his record of putting in a performance when Severn Sport are watching!
Centre Back – Maggie Neall (Gloucester City Women) – Playing in an usual left wing-back position against Cirencester, Neall was probably City’s best player on the day – following a great showing in the win over Bitton. Neall continues to be the best of the UDA talent I have seen so far.
Centre Back – Olly Whelan (Shortwood United) – Whelan put in a MOTM display in the cup win over Tuffley and I was delighted for him. After a spell at Fairford that saw game time limited, he is thriving in a good defensive back line for the Wood and it’s great to see him doing well again.
Left Back:- James Bowers (Tredworth Tigers) – Incredibly I don’t think Bowers has made any previous appearances in the team of the month and he’s only coming in at left back! His attitude, his leadership and then ability all stood-out on the day.

Right Wing – Elis Watts (Gloucester City) – City fans were excited when Watts signed for the club and his recent form has shown they were right to do so. Even though the game against Totton ended 0-0, Watts was the best player on the pitch by a country mile and has kicked on from there.
Midfield – Aaron Evans-Harriott (Bishops Cleeve) – Bishops Cleeve absolutely tore Helston apart and Alfie was particularly impressed with Evans-Harriott, who scored, assisted and dictated the game for the most part. A key player in a side doing fantastically well.
Midfield – Jacob Towns (Hartpury University) – Towns’ tenacity has been great to see for a while now and in the win against Pershore he really grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and helped his side take a giant leap towards clinching the league title.
Left Wing – Ben Baxter (Hartpury University) – January’s Player of the Month is back after yet another impressive month, especially the game against Pershore. A goal, an assist and celebrating his 100th appearance for the club – on top of getting the POTM award. He is some talent.
Striker- Tomos Shyamapant (Hartpury University) – Having seen Shyamapant when he was at Tuffley, it was evident that he had the talent to be a very handy Hellenic League player. Against Pershore he proved that. His work rate was exceptional, he took up some really good positions and scored two very tidy goals. A great showing.
Striker – Henry Driver-Dickerson (Longlevens U18s) – Driver-Dickerson is one of the best U18s players I have seen this season. Not only for his goals, but his ability to hold the ball up, playing the neat passing game and just working hard for the team, are all setting him on his way for a bright future.
Here is the XI in full (via a brand new, fancy graphic):

The subs bench includes 7 players to impress over the month and in full, they are below:
Ross Langworthy (Bishops Cleeve)
Alfie Bradshaw (Shortwood United)
Louis Manning (Hartpury University)
Alex Knight (Longlevens U18s)
Kami Stichter (Gloucester City Women)
Brad Bevan (Tuffley Rovers)
Macloud Moyo (Brockworth Albion)
This month’s team will be managed by Evesham United Manager Mike Ford after his side produced a scintillating run of results to move into the Southern League Division One play-offs.
