Tuffley Rovers manager Mark Pritchett has said that his side enter a two months in their season that sees them have “12 more cup finals, starting with Ardley United on Saturday.”
The Rovers boss spoke to Severn Sport ahead of the first of eight remaining home games this season this weekend.
In that run Tuffley also face the prospect of five local derbies in the next three weeks, with all of Bishops Cleeve, Lydney Town, Fairford Town and Brimscombe & Thrupp making the trip to Glevum Park.
Rovers currently sit 18th in the league table, just 2 points ahead of local rivals Longlevens – who have a game in hand over them, but they are also just 2 points behind 17th place Abingdon United.
They will go into Saturday’s game on the back of a hard fought 1-1 draw away at Ascot United and whilst rivals Longlevens took on Ardley last week, Pritchett says his said remained solely focused on their task at hand.
“Last weekend was a really good result for us and we could have snatched the win in the end, particularly when they went down to 10 men. But the draw is a positive result.
We knew Ardley and Longlevens could have gone either way but we aren’t concerned with what the other sides down there are doing. We know what we have to do and our full concentration this week has been on Ardley on Saturday.”
Tuffley will be looking to get revenge for their 2-1 defeat at Fritwell Road in August, but Pritchett knows that Saturday’s visitors will make life difficult for his side once again.
“I’m expecting a really difficult game on Saturday. Ardley have had a bit of an up and down season but we know that they are more than capable of getting results.
We lost at their place earlier on in the season so we will be looking to put that result right. We have improved since then so we will be looking to give a better account of ourselves.”
Saturday’s game sees new signing Adam Bloomfield make his Glevum Park bow since his dual registration with Slimbridge was finalised in time for last weekend’s trip to Ascot.
Bloomfield, who has been on fire for Slimbridge U18s this season, will be crucial in the run in for Tuffley and Pritchett couldn’t hide his delight at his latest acquisition.
“I’m really pleased to get Adam on board with us. I have watched him a few times this season and watched him mature and progress.
Our top goalscorer is on 6 goals so it is no secret that we need a goalscorer. Rich Cox and I have high hopes for him and we are confident with a run of games he can start getting himself on the scoresheet and be a real asset for us in the run in.”
