Two standout performers make step up from Tuffley to Southern League clubs

Two of Tuffley Rovers key players from the 2018/19 season won’t be returning to Glevum Park for the upcoming season as they will make the step up to the Southern League.

Joel White was a consistently standout performer for Tuffley Rovers in the Hellenic League; now the Tuffley captain has been rewarded with a move to the Southern League ahead of the 2019/20 season, Severn Sport understands.

White, who turns 28 next month, was ever-present for Tuffley in 2018/19 and his steady performances earned him a place in the Severn Sport Team of the Season.

Now, after proving himself as one of the better centre backs in the division, White’s form has seen him attract plenty of interest from Southern League clubs.

However Severn Sport understands that he will be staying in Gloucestershire for his football this season with one of the Southern League sides based in the county securing his services.

Also this morning it has been confirmed that Kieran Alder will leave the club to join Cinderford Town ahead of the new season.

Alder was another who impressed us and fans alike greatly this season, with the midfielder cleaning up at the Severn Sport End of Season Awards as well as the Tuffley Rovers equivalent.

Severn Sport spoke to Alder last month as he signalled his intention to leave the club if the chance to fight for promotion and titles was available to him.

Since then he has attracted lots of interest from clubs higher up the pyramid and as such has opted to join Paul Michael’s side at The Causeway, following their successful campaign last season.
