Adam Bloomfield scored a hattrick as Tuffley Rovers U18s edged local rivals Longlevens U18s 4-3 at Glevum Park.
The former Slimbridge man opened the scoring inside the first minute, rifling home from 20 yards after playing a neat one two with Jez Idowu. With just 54 seconds on the clock it was the perfect start for the hosts.
Longlevens nearly hit back within two minutes though as Cam Blacker side stepped his man in the box before drilling low at Kane Hyett, but the Rovers keeper held on.
However just before the quarter of an hour mark Levens were level when Alex Roder was played in one on one down the right hand side. Roder rounded Hyett and slotted home to level the scores.
From there you could see that the visitors had grown in confidence and began to win the 50/50 balls, which lead to Blacker get in one on one twice in as many minutes.
From the first chance his shot was blocked by Hyett, but the second saw him show the composure to round Hyett and make it 2-1 to a rampant visitors.
Their lead only lasted six minutes though as Jez Idowu was chopped down inside the Longlevens box and after Adam Wallace saved Niall Priday’s initial penalty, Josh Bird was on hand to make the game 2-2.
Just before the break a big 90 seconds saw the momentum shift back to Tuffley Rovers, with Cam Blacker having a goal chalked off for offside for Longlevens and within moments Adam Bloomfield held off his man, charged down the left hand side, cut in and blasted into the top corner. It was stunning.
Tuffley went into the half time break ahead and after a slow opening 15 minutes of the second half, Tuffley won their second penalty of the game when Bloomfield was brought down.
The forward stepped up to smash the spot kick down the middle to make it 4-2 and it looked like it would be an easy end for Rovers.
Tuffley had the ball in the back of the net for a fifth time through Charlie Holliday but his effort was flagged for offside. Adam Wallace then pulled off a great save to keep Levens in the contest before Charlie Rowntree nodded home from a corner to make it 4-3 and set up a barnstorming finish.
In the end Tuffley saw the game out to claim an important three points to see them move into 2nd in the Cheltenham Youth Floodlit League, one point behind leaders Bishops Cleeve. Longlevens sit in 5th place having played the most games out of the whole league (11 games).
