Severn Sport Tipster League 2020 – Cheltenham Festival Day 2 Results

Another day of drama is over for us in the Tipster League, as Ladies’ Day at the Cheltenham Festival produced shocks and spills alike.

Our 10 tipsters approached the day and some took the gamble and added boosts to their selections today. Today’s races were

14:50 – RSA Coral Cup

15:30 – Queen Mother Champion Chase

16:10 – Glenfarcas Chase (Cross Country)

We were all set, now let’s see how the guys got on.

14:50 – RSA Coral Cup

1) Dame De Compagnie (5/1 Fav)
2) Black Tears (12/1)
3) Thosedaysaregone (10/1)
4) Cracking Smart (33/1)

Pulled Up: Stratum, Champagne Well, Franco Du Port
Unseated Rider: Chesterfield

It was a slow start for our tipsters, with four of them failing to register a point – however they all saw their selections finish the race.

A season unbeaten, almost scored -2 points after Champagne Well pulled up and apart from that the other five tipsters left all scored positively.

Mr Slimbridge AFC and Always In My Brother’s Shadow picked the winner but also saw their second selection fail to finish, meaning they scored 1 point each – as did #Tripod for picking Black Tears to place.

The big winner of the opening race was Sweet Prince, who correctly picked the winner, but then had the foresight to apply his double price boost – meaning he scored 5 points thanks to the two bonus points.

One race down, two to go and ahead of the Champion Chase, drama. Second favourite Chacun Pour Soi was declared a non-runner. As one team had applied their double points boost to the horse they were able to move it to another selection (more on that later).

15:30 – Queen Mother Champion Chase

1) Politologue (6/1)
2) Dynamite Dollars (7/1)

NR: Chacun Pour Soi

Once again four of our tipsters failed to register a point, including Bacon and The Sidekick, who both hadn’t added to their overnight tallies.

Thanks to the non-runner and then the shocker of a run from favourite Defi Du Seuil the points were limited for the most part. Mr Slimbridge AFC, Top Trotters and The Fox all picked up a point for Dynamite Dollars placing.

#Tripod picked up 3 points for the winner, with A season unbeaten, almost getting the reversed forecast after their reserve came into play – scoring them 4 points. The Voltage went one better by seeing Politologue replacing the non-runner and his extra place boost finishing second, meaning he scores 5 points.

So with one race left, it was all to play for!

16:10 – Glenfarcas Chase

1) Easysland (3/1)
2) Tiger Roll (4/5 Fav)
3) Out Sam (33/1)

Faller: Yanworth

All bar two tipsters picked Easysland in their selections, so The Fox and Bacon failed to score. The latter somehow managed to go a whole day picking six horses and NONE of them placed or failed to finish the race…incredible!

The Sidekick, Mr Slimbridge AFC, #Tripod, Always In My Brother’s Shadow and Top Trotters all scored 4 points for the reversed forecast, with The Voltage picking up his second 5 points of the day.

The two big winners of the race were A season unbeaten, almost who applied their refunded Double Points boost to Easysland to score 6 points. Sweet Prince also claimed his second big score of the day by having the straight forecast and double points on Tiger Roll as the each way shot, meaning he too scored 6 points.

And with that the second day of the Cheltenham Festival Tipster League 2020 is over and here is the standings after day two.

As you can see Sweet Prince leapt from 8th to 1st after a terrific day for him, with Always In My Brother’s Shadow and The Voltage having solid days and only being separated on alphabetical order one point behind the leader. Top Trotters and A season unbeaten, almost sit one point back and complete the top half – just two points off the leader.

After a bad, pointless day Bacon finds himself at the foot of the table, but with two days left any one of the tipsters can still win, with top to bottom separated by only 10 points.

Tomorrow is day three and a difficult day on paper, how will the tipster league look heading into the final day? Find out this time tomorrow evening.
