Here at Severn Sport this season we are continuing Player of the Month in partnership with AthElite Sports and we have an updated monthly award for the 2021/22 season.
As announced over the summer, ourselves and AthElite Sports have continued our partnership and this initiative is in place to continue rewarding players for their hard work and dedication over the month.
The players that qualify for the award are those who made our Team of the Month for that month – you can view the November team of the month here
The winner will then receive a £25 voucher for AthElite Sports website to reward a fantastic month and will also excitingly win a brand new Player of the Month trophy!
The winners last season were Slimbridge’s Danny King, Tuffley Rovers forward Rudi McKinnon and Gloucester City duo Matt McClure and Jack James have all taken the crown. The April recipient was Longlevens’ Will Emery and Harry Walker of Tuffley Rovers took the award in May.
The first Player of the Month of the 2021/22 season went to Ollie Long of Longlevens, before Charlie Holliday claimed the first trophy to be issued for his start in August.
Slimbridge U18s forward Jack Liddicot took home the trophy for September and Longlevens striker Brad Martin was awarded the prize for October.
Like last month we are announcing a three man shortlist and will be awarding out the trophy during the month to the lucky winner.
Demi Yussuf (Tuffley Rovers/U18s) – Demi has had a wonderful yet tough month. He was on the pitch when Harvey Kinsella went down after a challenge against Shortwood United U18s and stayed with him long after the game had been abandoned and that is what a captain does! He has lead the team this season incredibly well and has had recent call ups to the first team for that reason. Tuffley always tend to find good characters in their players and he is another one.
Tomos Shyampant (Tuffley Rovers/U18s) – A truly breath-taking four goals against Malvern Town U18s in the Severn Sport sponsored match and a stunning free kick at Saw Mills against Longlevens, what an outstanding couple of games for the young man. He, like Yussef, has been used by the first team this month too and I’m sure he will make many more to come.
Austin Parker (Cheltenham Saracens/U18s) – Austin has been one of the shining lights in the Cheltenham Saracens U18s side and the first time I was able to see him from the start was the win against Tuffley, which he then backed up with another good performance against Shortwood. He isn’t afraid to get stuck in and that is exactly what you want from a young player!
One of the three above players will be awarded the first Severn Sport w/ AthElite Sports Player of the Month so expect pictures plastered all over social media when the unveiling occurs!
Keep your eyes peeled at the start of December for the shortlist for the final Player of the Month of 2021!
