One thing that is guaranteed is that the Player of the Season for this campaign is going to the Hellenic Premier, with Longlevens forward Harry Emmett, Bishops Cleeve striker Jack Watts and Fairford Town’s Ellis Dunton all nominated for the prestigious category.

It all comes down to this. And we can reveal, that the winner is…

Harry Emmett takes the prize in a hotly contested category, which will divide opinion I am sure! The former Cheltenham Town Youth product has been a revelation this term and has proved to be the single biggest success story to come out of Gloucestershire football in a season that will live on in the memory of all of us.

It has been an incredible 18 months for this young man and after a strong end to last season, Longlevens had hopes that he would progress further in a full season with Brad Martin up front with him. What followed was 32 starts, 20 goals, easily 10+ assists, he was one of the three best players for a side who were on course to achieve their highest ever league finish and he played a major role in helping his side into the 2nd Round of the FA Vase for the first time in their history. He also got the assist for one of my favourite goals all season (Brad Martin’s second in the 6-1 win over Shrivenham).

Jack Watts started the season like a house on fire and seemed to be scoring for literal fun and 32 goals in any domestic season is nothing to be sniffed at and Ellis Dunton was in my opinion the best signing any of the Hellenic Premier sides made for the 2019/20 season. All three were deserved nominees and all have plenty of reasons as to why they should be player of the season.

And there we have it. The curtains are drawn on the unforgettable 2019/20 season. Whether it existed or not is open for debate, but the games we covered will still be recorded in my spreadsheet accordingly.

Thank you to everyone for their support during this season, whether you read anything on the website or listened to any live commentary or show on Dean Radio – or even if you just interacted with anything on our social media, thank you!
