Prolific forward looking to add to his game after successful 2018/19 season

Adam Bloomfield has confirmed he is looking to build on a great 2018/19 season as he looks ahead to a second season in men’s football.

Bloomfield goes into his second season as part of the Slimbridge U18s side, formed last summer, and he is looking to emulate a terrific season for all involved at Thornhill Park.

The forward would score an impressive 22 league goals for the Young Swans as they went on to finish 2nd in the Midland Floodlit Youth League Southern Division, as well as coming close in the cup as well. We asked Bloomfield whether he could have imagined having such a fruitful season this time 12 months ago.

“No I wouldn’t have imagined it,” Bloomfield said, “working with Adam and Charlie was a delight. They brought the best out of me, encouraging me to play my natural game. I set myself a target at the start of the season to score 20+ goals and happy to have achieved more then my expectations.

Playing for the Slimbridge U18s has been a great experience. The style of play suited me perfectly as we had players that were attack minded. We have memories that will stay with us forever, for example Torquay away which we were very unfortunate to lose!” Bloomfield added.

During the season the striker would go on to make his Southern League debut for Slimbridge, before heading to Tuffley Rovers for the second half of the season where he would play his part in their survival against the drop in the Hellenic Premier.

“It was big step and I thought I handled it will considering I’m only young. I have seen a vast improvements in my strength from the beginning of the season to the end of the season. Playing at Tuffley under Pritch and Coxy was a great help to my progression and I’m grateful for being given a good opportunity.” Said the former Forest Green Academy man.

After laying down a marker with impressive performances for Rovers last term Bloomfield was nominated in the Severn Sport End of Season Awards and now Bloomfield will be looking to add to his game ahead of the 2019/20 season. With his future unknown in the men’s game for the coming season, Bloomfield told Severn Sport he can’t wait to get going again with the Young Swans.

I’m not sure on what I will be doing next season but I am going to work hard and try to impress in pre season. But my target for next season is to focus on men’s football and be determined to keep on improving.

I am aiming to play at the highest possible level. I can’t wait to be playing for Slimbridge U18s in the coming season and will aim to set a standard for the new players added to the squad. Hopefully some silverware is a major possibility.” Bloomfield said.
