Former Tuffley Rovers striker Niall Priday has joined Longlevens for the 2021/22 season after departing Glevum Park in the summer.
Priday, who holds the record for most goals for Tuffley Rovers Development, has stepped across city lines to Saw Mills for the new season and he admits that the time was right for a new challenge.
“Leaving Tuffley was a difficult decision,” said Priday. “But I felt that I needed a fresh start and a new challenge and the time felt right to make the move.”
The move reunites Priday with new Longlevens co-Manager Michael Palmer, who announced his departure from the Tuffley Rovers Development setup at the end of last season before joining Levens in the summer himself and Priday is looking forward to working with Palmer once again.
“Of course it definitely made the decision easier knowing Mike was at Longlevens as I had worked well with him last year and during that time we built up a strong relationship – so I’m delighted to work with him again,” added Priday.
With Priday making the move from Tuffley to Longlevens it is likely to cause a stir on social media, especially after Palmer’s recent departure, but Priday told Severn Sport he is looking forward to getting going with Longlevens when he returns following a minor injury that will see him out of action for about a month.
“Everyone involved with Longlevens have been really welcoming so far, probably more welcome than I had initially anticipated having come from Tuffley.
But when I come back from injury I just want to play as much football as possible and hopefully have an impact whilst enjoying playing my football again,” Priday said.
Priday is due to be part of the travelling party to Longlevens’ pre-season friendly at Wellington on Saturday, a game you can follow on Severn Sport’s social media.
