Shortwood United manager Mat Blythe joined us on Buttee’s for Breakfast this morning, in a week that saw Neil Long and Josh Loveridge join the club as part of his backroom staff, and he described the latter as “an obvious choice” to bring in.
Long joins as Assistant Manager and Loveridge joins as First Team Coach, after Ian Soule stepped down from his role previously.
Speaking to us this morning, Blythe said he was “absolutely delighted to get the guys on board” after work had been going on behind the scenes to strengthen the management team.
The additions are a great blend for the club says Blythe, as “Neil gives us a bit more experience in terms of longevity in the game, and then Josh has the experience from Forest Green, Brimscombe and Frampton more recently. He has a real eye for the game.”
You can listen back to the full interview below, where he also talks about the stop-start season, losing players, the competitive nature of the Hellenic Div-One West and being a DJ in his spare time.
